Linking up with Kate and the gang at Five Minute Friday.
The one word prompt is UNITE
Marriage unites a man and a woman. It is a covenant made before man and God until death do us part. I realize this isn’t always how it works. but this is the ideal. This is God’s desire.
For the wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does. Likewise the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does.
I Corinthians 7:4
This is a servant relationship, not a serve me relationship but serve each other. Not even in the marriage bed, but especially in the marriage bed. Not a duty, but a privilege, an entwining of two, opposite beings in a beautiful representation of Christ and the church. A human version of Christ and the church. That is why it is critical for the marriage bed to be undefiled. Why it’s important for the marriage to be a covenant. Why it’s important for a marriage to exist unless the situation is so dire that it cannot. Not only is it a man and a woman united in marriage, but it is a union of the body. It is a holy, worshipful experience. Or at least it should be.
But, if it ends there, it is dry, and even monotonous work, a duty, a requirement, but, thank God, it doesn’t end there. It is fun. I mean it, FUN, I am not talking about a silly fun, but a true, deep, abiding, joy, and FUN. Two people who love each other, who have given themselves to each other in the deepest, most intimate way possible. A couple who has given themselves to each other only, and who ENJOY it. Admit it, making love with the one who you have given yourself too can be REALLY fun. So, the unity of the love and covenant of marriage is important, worshipful, holy, and Fun.So, the unity of the love and covenant of marriage is important, worshipful, holy, and Fun. Click To Tweet
Now, if you will excuse us, we need a little unity time, and maybe a little fun. (In a hotel, with 3 of our children present…not likely, lol)
