daddy's matter

Daddy’s matter.  Don’t believe me?  Look around.  Do you see the pain? The loneliness? The empty lives? Look around at our current culture. Divorce and shacking up is more popular than marriage. I’m guessing irreconcilable differences is the main reason given for a divorce (I’m too lazy this morning to look, but it makes sense to me).  Not to mention how easy it is to get one today…just look in any newspaper that’s still left standing, to find your next $99 divorce.  God is dead to the majority of the people in this country.  And don’t even mention Jesus Christ…  Church,  well the “I’m Okay, You’re Okay” mindset that began in the 1970’s has permeated that institution as well.

I look around at the broken homes.  I look around at the homes that never were.  Single Mamma homes, not because the husband moved out; but because there never was a husband.  There was only a baby daddy.  Or maybe multiple baby daddy’s.  And there was never a family, defined as one man, one woman and children.

Commitment is a thing of the past.  Lust brings so many couples together. And lust won’t keep a couple together. Commitment keeps a couple together.  But that is so yesterday…

Others decide to shack up, to have a baby and then get married.  There was no “accident” it was planned that way.  And I wonder what the baby, when grown, will think about that decision.  Marriage, almost as an afterthought to the whole relationship.

I saw this performance today, and it broke my heart.

Do you see the pain?  Can you see the brokenness in these eyes, not just Kelly’s but look at Keith Urban.  You don’t cry like that unless you know what it’s like…

Daddy’s matter.

I don’t know what kind of home life either of these people had as a child.  But I can guess.

We live in a selfish world.  One where men are told they aren’t needed.  And kids are raised without Daddy’s.  And everyone walks around thinking they’re dressed in their finest; when the truth is, they’re walking around naked.  They’ve convinced themselves that children are resilient.  They’ll bounce back.  They’ll survive.  If you still believe this after watching the video…well, I have no words…

It has been said that once the institution of family begins to break down, society breaks down.

Look at how far we’ve come…

Yes, I linked up with Kate at Five Minute Friday.  No I didn’t stick to five minutes and I wasn’t even sure I’d link until I was done.  I snuck “morning” in the post once, by accident.  I’m so glad Kate isn’t hard and fast on the rules, lol.  I’d have been banished a long time ago.

“Piece By Piece” lyrics

And all I remember is your back
Walking towards the airport, leaving us all in your past
I traveled fifteen hundred miles to see you
Begged you to want me, but you didn’t want to

But piece by piece, he collected me
Up off the ground, where you abandoned things, yeah
Piece by piece he filled the holes that you burned in me
At six years old and you know, he never walks away
He never asks for money, he takes care of me
He loves me
Piece by piece, he restored my faith
That a man can be kind and a father could… stay

And all of your words fall flat
I made something of myself and now you want to come back
But your love, it isn’t free, it has to be earned
Back then I didn’t have anything you needed so I was worthless

But piece by piece, he collected me
Up off the ground, where you abandoned things, yeah
Piece by piece he filled the holes that you burned in me
At six years old and you know, he never walks away
He never asks for money, he takes care of me
He loves me
Piece by piece, he restored my faith
That a man can be kind and a father could… stay

Piece by piece [x6]

Piece by piece I fell far from the tree
I will never leave her like you left me
And she will never have to wonder her worth
Because unlike you I’m going to put her first
And you know, he’ll never walk away,
He’ll never break her heart
He’ll take care of things, he’ll love her
And piece by piece, he’ll restore my faith
That a man can be kind and a father should be great

Piece by piece [x3]
