Envy.  It’s part of what got Eve in trouble.  That and lack of trust…but we’re talking green today.

The serpent said: “You will not surely die. For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise,[b] she took of its fruit and ate, and she also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate. Then the eyes of both were opened, and they knew that they were naked. And they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loincloths.

She wanted WISDOM.  She wanted the only thing she didn’t have…God was the all wise, all knowing, all powerful God, yet Eve, being human couldn’t trust God.  She was envious of God’s wisdom.  On a side note I think it’s interesting that the last thing we’re given before their eyes were open was, “They were naked and felt no shame” to knowing they were naked and sewed fig leaves together for clothing.

If only Eve had not desired to have something did didn’t have…but she didand now we’re given the impossible list of “love is” all because she sinned.  No not really, it was all a part of God’s plan…

Envy.  It can DESTROY!  It can destroy lives, marriages, children, relationships. It can destroy everything…

When we want the new model and can’t really afford it, but buy it anyway, when we want our kids to have better than us (and what parent doesn’t) But when we throw the latest and greatest things at them (XBOX, shoes, toys, etc)  we spoil them and they get an entitlement mentality, that the deserve.  The truth is, they deserve NOTHING.  A little deprivation makes for a well rounded child.  When we look at another wife’s husband, or another man’s wife and see all the qualities in them that our own spouse lacks…

But love covers a multitude of sin.

God is a jealous God but He does not envy.  He desires our of our heart, soul mind and strength.

God’s love never fails.

If you have been envious dear friend, it’s not too late.  Repent.  Take captive those thoughts.  Turn away from the sin.  He will work it out.  Maybe not the way you desire; but for your good and His glory

His love never ends!
